Hi there,

I haven't posted on here before, but I have greatly benefited from all your advice and support for others.

I started Humira in August 2010 at the suggestion from my GI that it would heal my fissure. I had a fissure that started Feb 2009 and never healed until a few months of being on Humira. I was put on Humira for the purpose to heal the fissure. Prior I was on imuran. Recently I was trying to go off Humira, as I would like to be off meds for a pregnancy. My doctor advised me to space the dose and then eventually discountinue. I have been spacing the dose, and have noticed my fissure starting again. I'm curious if anyone else is on Humira for fissures, and if anyone experienced them coming back after slowing/stopping Humira. Or maybe this is the nature of fissures. Thank you for any and all support.

I'm not surprised that your fissure has returned after increasing the spacing of your injections. It is the nature of the disease, you are allowing the inflammatory process to return, this in turn will/may mean your symptoms return.

Humira is only a US-FDA category B, depending on how severe your symptoms are it may be better to consider the risks/benefit of increasing your dose.

I'll agree with Beth. The H worked on my fistula when I upped the dose to every ten days from every 14 days.

Good Luck
