Which is the lesser of two evils? I know it is bad to be on prednisone for lengthy periods of time.. but my dad seems to think that prednisone would be better for me than Humira, and I don't know enough but I am leaning towards disagreeing.. what do you think?

You really need to follow your GI's advice because it depends on what symptoms you have and how long diagnosed. Prednisone is very effective but has terrible side effects compared to humira. My GI would recommend Humira over pred any day but it does depend on your circumstances. Studies have shown that starting off with the stronger drugs like humira and infliximab is better for newly diagnosed people rather than the old system of trialling increasingly stronger drugs while the crohn's deteriorated even further making it harder to get on top of. Their is a humira forum here, use the search button at the top of the page and that will tell you about other peoples experiences with humira. Good luck with it all,

In my opinion prednisone should be used to get things under control, especially if you are flaring - and then a maintenance drug, such as Humira should be used.....

Thanks, I have been having trouble getting Crohns under control and my symptoms did not go away with other drugs. I will definitely listen to my GI but I have to know what I am thinking before I ask anything. I do not want to be on prednisone long term...
