Humira worries

Hello!

As I've posted before my husband is set yo start Humira soon (whenever his doc office and insurance figure it out 🙄) and I've gone down the rabbit hole of worry about side effects and what ifs from the medicine. He's been on mercaptopurine for almost 5 years and that's always worried me in itself and now with Humira I'm even more worried about the potential side effects or cancer risks. I'm hoping his doc will taper him off mercaptopurine once humira is started because we really don't want him on both unless he starts building antibodies. I know Humira has been around a long time now but the worry is real about the what ifs. 🤦‍♀️ and I also know the disease puts you at a slightly higher risk on its own. Any insight from ones that have been here longer than us would be greatly appreciated! Thanks as always everyone!

My kiddo has been on biologics since age 8
Now 18
Remicade 8 months
Humira 5 plus years
Stelara 4 years
No issues
He was on humira plus methotrexate
And now Stelara plus methotrexate
The what if’s game is high

but quality of life
We take risks every single day with much higher odds of bad things happening
Because quality of life is important

we give infants Tylenol
Which can cause liver failure ,Steven Johnson syndrome or death
Same as amoxicillin
They difference is docs are not telling all the bad that could happen since the good outweighs the bad

for my kiddo I looked up stats
That helped when he was little
Stats for death under 14
1 in 250 by car
1 in 1000 by drowning (even if they know how to swim )

while death by T cell lymphoma if you are an average person on the street is 6 in10000
With ibd and 6-mp and biologic and young male then 4 in 10000
So

the what if game just takes away from todays happiness that you can’t get back
