humira

hey everyone
off to hospital tomorrow to get my first humira injections im feeling very anxious and worried about it all, am guessing its going to hurt, also worried about the after effects as its so close to christmas

The humira does burn for me, but when it is done it is done. Please check with your doctor on side effects. I had some discussion with my doctor, but found that there were a lot of things that I actually learned about from talking to someone else with crohn's that has been on it for a year and a half. That being said it should help with the crohn's and if you have joint pain from your crohn's it can help alleviate that over time as well.

Hey, HB...

I totally understand, I was very nervous for my loading doses as well. Try not to worry about it too much - you might feel a sting from the injections, but you should be fine immediately afterwards - no lasting effects. I hope it starts working soon for you!

not to freak you out but it definitely stings and afterwards when i try to stand up i feel stingy for a couple seconds. then i'm usually fine. it's totally worth it though for me. it's helped me quite a bit.

I had my first loading doses on Friday and it went very well. Yes, it stings for a few seconds but it's not long lasting. The injection sites were sore for a day but it was totally worth it as the swelling in my ankle was virtually gone by that night. I didn't even notice that I was practically running through the house the next morning without having to wrap it. As far as the abdominal pain it is subsiding but I'm in really bad shape with ulcers and fistulas. I can't wait for my next dose! I've had nothing but wonderful side effects. Be strong you can do it! :)

thank you everyone, well ive just got back and pleased to say i survived, had a bit of problems at first as they was worried my blood pressure and pulse was 2 high but tried to explain thats because i was freaking out and hate hospitals haha, as far as the injections go yes they wasnt pleasant but i got through it without much fuss and feel if its the right drug for me then i can cope with the pain. i feel ok now prehaps a bit light headed and sleepy but that could be from the stress of it all, also my stomach is a bit tender where they injected but other than that im ok :)
