This has been a nightmare to say the least. My husband had a colonoscopy on feb 23. Because of bloody stools Where he was diagnosed with c diff and possible colitis. Given vanca and dr said he should be feeling lots better by Monday. Fast forward to that Monday and we were in the ER. At that point they changed his antibiotic and also gave him lialda. Days go by and no improvement so he was given a steroid.
He never got better but he did start having some good times during the day with out the severe pain. Going to the bathroom was another story because te pain was so intense. antibiotics run out last Thursday and he was admitted to the hospital on Monday evening. He went down hill pretty fast.
They started him on asacol (3 400mg pills/ 4 times a day) in the hospital and also a mesaline (sp) enema twice a day, vanco again and clear liquids. He's also getting Iv fluids.
Oh and his biopsies came back comparable with crohns. Im very confused and now cannot figure out because they say it's the c diff (c diff culture came back neg) but dr says with all the inflammation it can come back neg and still be there. if biopsies say crohns the dr is still saying c diff and not really talking about the crohns.
I'm just not sure if I'm missing something
