I have no idea what we are doing and I'm feeling very frustrated and defeated.

A little history: he has always had belly\poop issues. 15 yrs ago was given a diagnosis of UC. Took a sulf med for about 18 months went off of it and never went back to the dr. Over the last 15 yrs he has been constipated most of the time and eating lots of fiber to go.

Jan 2012 blood in stools, went to dr feb and had colonoscopy on Feb 23. A few days before the colonoscopy he got very sick. The pain was HORRIBLE. He would be going poo and vomiting. So he was given the diagnosis of C diff and given vanco. Nothing said about IBD. 4 days later I took him to the ER and he was given flagyl and cipro. Between feb 27th and march 12 I talk to the dr office everyday. Somewhere in that time they said his biopsies came back saying crohns. He was getting worse and on Mar 12 admitted to the hospital. In the hospital he was put back on vanco and given the c diff diagnosis again and othe meds like asacol, steroids and enemas. He wasn't really responding to anything so remicade was started. We were discharged and no more vanco

He has still not had a pain free day and has been getting progressively worse. We went for his 3rd remicade infusion today and within 5 min of being there they were already planning to admit him. They are saying possible c diff again and/or he's not responding to the remicade either. I know labs were done but the results were not back when I left.

The dr also said he may have indeterminate colitis.

What are they looking for and what should I be doing. He is worn out feon all this pain and feels so bad all the time.

I forgot to mention he has lost 63 pounds since feb

Cari, that sounds just awful! What other tests are they doing on him? Has he had a CT scan at all? That would be the first thing I would be asking for at this point. How about a barium with follow thru?

Where exactly is the pain? What section of the bowel?

Remicade works, but it takes time for it to do it's job. They are absolutely certain that he has CDiff? 100% positive?

Hello yes he had a ct scan in the ER a few Days after the colonoscopy. He also had abdominal x-ray on the first admit to the hospital. When the dr did the colonoscopy he said that there were white patches on the colon and that was c diff. Stool samples have come back negative every time but he said that common. I don't think he's every been on antibiotics long enough if he does in fact have it.

Still in the hospital. On vanco 4 times a day and fluids. His H&H is dropping so he got 2 units of blood last night.

Bless him! And you! You must be worried sick. Has there been any improvement at all with anything?

He says he has a constant lower pain that moves to the right. Sometimes it cramps more and sometimes it's a stabbing pain. His belly hurts all over sometimes too. sometimes he complains of a burning feeling too
He hardly eats or drinks because he says that even a drink of water can cause pain.

I would say he has improved some but no more fevers but he just overall feels blah.

No fever is good news. I just wish things would improve for him alot faster, as no doubt both of you do! His appendix is ok? CT shows no fistulas?

I do know the worse you get before you get to hospital, the slower it takes for things to get back to normal. But that doesnt make it any easier.

We're home but really no better. I don't know how we're going to keep him home if a drink of water makes him have diarrhea.
They did start him on ulcer meds and it has helped with the burning he was having. He also came home on a 30 day script for vanco.

Just today he has already been to the bathroom 20+ times.

Dr said he wants to wait to bulk up the poo because of the infection. It's. Ery frustrating to leave the hospital just as sick.
