I have been on the highest grade of Hydro Morphone HCI and I am in incredible pain and not moving my bowels. I know that this medication constipates and can interfere with the bowels waking up.

Has anyone had issues like this? They are recommending Teradol but the risks sound scary! I don't know what to do!!!

I assume you mean Toradol? If so, my first concern is that it is an NSAID. Who is recommending you take it? Your GI or another type of doctor?

I was given toradol in the hospital after surgery after morphine and I thought it sucked. It wasn't enough for me.

May help reduce pain and help move you

I have learned a Bikram Yoga pose (Wind Removing Pose) that I do at home and immediately helps me. You may be able to google it.

Secondly, a Chinese masseuse taught me "belly rubs" to stop pain and get circulation in bowels to keep moving. Sounds like you have same problem I had. When I first learned this, I did this almost all the time...in the car, watching tv, at my desk, before bed, when I woke up....etc....Anyway, look down at your navel and use that as the center point. To YOUR right is the ascending colon and to the left of the navel (by hip) is the descending colon. Consider your navel the center of the clock, as you look down. Take your hand and begin at the right and go clockwise around your navel and keep doing it as long as possible. You may find it extremely painful at first, but as you keep doing it, you will find your belly getting softer and pain reduced.

Why? You are eliminating the air in the colon and getting blood circulating. You will be moving things along through the colon. Your problem right now is that you are probably swollen and nothing is moving. I have used on my 3 year old niece, when she was constipated and worked like a charm and she is 9 year old and still asks me to give her belly rubs. It is quite calming.

You can move around your navel close to it or go wider; whatever makes a difference for you. However, make sure you go in the right direction. Looking down, begin at the right, go upward and then go down to the left and continue around to the right...repeat.

The reason it may initially hurt is because you are forcing things to move and since it is swollen internally, it may have a hard time doing so. I have been in the middle of dinner, bent over in extreme pain, when my husband has had to use this to help me get through the pain.

I also began using digestive enzymes every time I ate anything. I used plant based enzymes. I found that helped me within days of first using them.

Keep searching and feel better!

This was when I was still in the hospital after surgery. Now I'm on Percocet but it doesn't seem to do a thing for me.
