Hydrocortisone dosage

Hi,

I'm actually on 3.75 mg. prednisone twice a day (7.5 mg. total). My GI switched me to hydrocortisone (beginning at 30 mg.) so as to facilitate my weaning.

Since the GI didn't specify if one should take it once, twice or thrice a day, what would you suggest? I have read thrice is best, but I'm not sure... Pharmacist says one daily but I don't trust her.

I'm afraid to take it only once daily since hydrocortisone has a very short half life...

Why don't you trust your pharmacist? If your doctor prescribed it, they had to call or e-script the prescription to your pharmacy. Your pharmacist is telling you what the doctor prescribed you. We can't give advice because the dosage is highly specific on who is taking it/why/for how long, etc. If you still don't believe her, call the doctor's office and ask them.
