hellloooo all.
well, the lady I went to was talking to me before we got started on anything, and said to me "considering how alert and positive you generally are, and that you have done a very difficult degree, i think a better approach for you might be CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy).
So we sat together and discussed my anxiety issues that were stemming from the symptoms I had been having, as well as the trauma I have endured over the past 4 years- she gave me some papers about thought processes- about catastrophasising situations, panic attacks, rational thinking, relaxation and depresive rumination. She began to talk to me about how we are all in control of our own lives, and sometimes when we suffer chronically, its easy to lose focus on the rest of our lives and begin to only see the things that are happening to us. we begin to go into ourselves and are unable to really be stimulated by our environment. We become innately selfish and think about our selves and our comfort all the time, every little twinge makes us begin to mentally check ourselves over and by concentrating on whats happening in our bodies we then begin to feel worse, as concentrating on it magnifies the problem.
What is needed is to shift the focus. To keep appointments, even if we're not feeling great, to make sure we have ways to relax and other things to think about.
I was a little skeptical about it all- but i did my homeowrk and read the papers..... it's a good weekor so later and i actually feel a lot lot better! Im more engaged, I can stop myself form going down the road of worrying and shutting down. Im more confident, more positive and feel more incontrol. As hippy dippy as it may sound, im finally getting my life back after a year of anxiety, pain, stress and self loathing.
I would highly reccomend this to anyone
good luck people xxx
