hysteroctomy and CD

I just got back from my GYN and due to a new diagnosis from her of Pelvic Conjuctive Syndroms she is talking to me about a hysterctomy...I REALLY do not want to go through another operation but I hope this one will have positive results. I am just nervous because I am not sure the GI risks. Knowing how close the GI tract is to the female organs is this really a safe thing to do?

This is a link relating to Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. There are procedures besides hysterectomy that can be done for this problem, although your doctor may prefer hysterectomy for one reason or another. I don't think you would be at a higher risk than anyone else, if you had a hysterectomy, except that general anesthesia slows down digestion.

Paulah.. i had an ovary removed years after my Crohns diagnosis and bowel surgery... it was fine. the gynae surgeon worked closely with my gastro surgeon, and both were present during that op.

good luck in whatever you decide hun, but don't let worry stand in the way of you getting a good quality of life back. just make sure you have complete reassurance that all aspects of your medical history have been covered well, if you do go for the surgery.
