Thanks everyone! I was seriously SO scared about giving myself the injections. I didn't think I was going to be able to do it. I talked about what happened with my 2nd dose in my other thread. The pharmacy was able to switch me to the pens, but I still wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it. I have decided to do my injections in my thighs, it hurt way less than my stomach! I let the pen sit out for a couple of hours before hand, and I iced my thigh before I did it and then again after. It hurt, but not as bad as I thought it would!

I am really really proud of myself!

congrats Mandy.. I did my 1st weekly shot today too. Last week's shot hurt much more than this week. Not all shots feel the same for some reason...and I do it in the stomach.
Either way 5 seconds of a sting is well worth it..if it helps crohn's.!

Well done Mandy. I was the exact same when I started humira last september. Terrified of the thought of self-injecting. But now its just a routine procedure for me. I really wish you the best of luck. Keep up the good work.

Miss Mandy, I dont like to put a downer on a great day for you but I think you are only meant to leave you Humira pen out for no more than 15 mins or so. They have to be kept @ no more than 8.C for a reason, Unless of course you use different one's to the ones we use in UK.
Think I'd check if I was you.

Hi Mandy, well done, I can relate as I was apprehensive after having a severe reaction to azathioprine- which left in a delirious state in hosp in April this year. Had my first four injection 2 weeks ago and I am due to have my next two today. Good luck with you treatment Hope all goes well.

Grant, For my first 4 shots 2 weeks ago I used the services of the Gastro Liaison Nurses at my Hospital who were great and provided me with everything I needed to know. I was advised to take the humira out of the fridge and let it sit for up to 1 to 2 hrs although the Humira instructions indicate abt 20 minutes. When I saw them, my humira had been out abt 40 min and it was still too cool. They adv that their other patients have found leaving it out longer makes it easier with less pain.

Obviously we are all told different things, so apologies MissMandy & micro1. And well done for managing it. Me I've been told 20mins maximum out the fridge but maybe ours are a tad different. Bottom line is as long as it works who cares.
Well done
