I've been sick for 9 months going on 10. Lost my job lost everything because of my Crohns. Dissability is supposed to come soon but hasn't and it's been 3 months since I've signed up for it. Unemployment of course denied me. I have food stamps but they don't pay the bills and welfare won't give cash assistance because I'm childless. No family to help. Only two friends are helping but I need to make a living not beg people for money, and for the little I'm thankful they give.

I started being treated with Lialda ONLY! No other medications. I have no health insurance and they won't give me medicaid until dissability goes through which could be months or years from now. Lialda has helped for 10 weeks but I still have trouble going anywhere without feeling like I'm going to **** myself along with other symptoms. Should I alert my doc that recently at least 2-3 times after I eat my food I feel sharp pains in my intestines as it constricts my food and I can feel it go from top to bottom of intestines? Sharp pains? It's not like OH I"M DYING but it's very uncomfortable and scary! This has never happened before!!!!!

This is such a nasty disease, I no longer have a social life, job, or college. What should I do? The doc ONLY put me on Lialda!!!!!!

Crohns2011, yes you should because pain can & will eventually wear you down. Also to control you BM's you could try Loperamide but not too much of it. Even if it gives you enough control to go out then it could make you feel happier.
Hope things turn round for you soon.
Best Wishes

Oh man this breaks my heart. I was very, very fortunate to get my disability when I was 17 and I have been on it for two years now. Every state is different (move to washington haha) Anyway, I am sorry to hear things are so tough for you. I'm glad you have some good friends because dealing with this disease can make you feel so alone. I am also glad you are on here, there are a lot of smart people who can help you/make you feel better/not alone on this site. It amazes me.

I called this thing the plague. it's not for nothing. It always saddens me to see that our Southern neighbors keep their citizen in pain instead of offering medicare.

Keep strong my dear. Hopefully in time things will get better!

Crohns2011 you need to talk to the doctor. This sounds similar to what I had 10 years ago, a very bad obstruction. I ended up having to have surgery to have the entrance from my stomach to my intestines diverted.

Good luck with getting assistance.
