I have been suffering from Crohn’s since 1984. I had surgery in 1991 and got part of my intestine removed. I was constantly running to the bathroom and had fistula around my bottom all the time.

Couple of years ago I went for regular check up to my doctor and I found out that my triglyceride cloistral was very high. so he give me this medication (Gemfibrozil 600 mg) for that and he told me to take fish oil three times per day. I noticed that not only I have a normal bowel movement for the first time since 1984, my annoying fistulas disappeared as well. The best thing is that fish oil is good for you and I don’t have any side effect from taking gemfibrozil. I want to share this so if anyone wants to try this please talk to your doctor.

Thanks for sharing that! I am glad that you found something that works for you! I have not heard of Gemfibrozil but I do take fish oil, I think everyone should, even healthy people, it has so many benefits. I look forward to seeing you around the forum!

Gemfibrozil is cholesterol medication and the side effects of this medicine is constipation. It keeps you from constantly running to the bathroom. I take one every other day. I am no longer afraid of getting stuck in the traffic or going out with friends which I always avoided in the past.
