Hello everyone, my name is Megan and I'm 25 years old. Since I was about 17 years old, I had started to develop a lot of problems with digestion-especially with my stomach-. As the years have gone by, and the many doctors visits, my condition got worse. Now I have the official diagnosis of duodenal crohns disease and gerd-the gerd was diagnosed before the duodenal crohns-. I'm scared and my anxiety is through the roof. At one end, I'm glad I finally got diagnosed, but at the same time, my grandmother had this condition and it got very bad for her. Can anyone give me some advice? Thank you all very much

So sorry you have to deal with this disease Megan. Crohn's disease of duodenum. Not the usual place (the terminal ileum). It is good that you are diagnosed because now you can begin treatment. As for comparing the disease to your grandmother's crohn's, remember that there is much better treatment available now than when your grandmother probably came down with her crohn's. Because the treatments are so much better, outcomes of the disease have also got better over time.

Hi Meg. I'm Mal, and I'm 23.

I know what it's like to have these mixed feelings of relief through finally being diagnosed and then fear about what it all actually means. It's not easy. The great thing about these forums is you can talk to people who can offer support which is amazing.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and about your grandmother. If it helps at all, Crohn's can differ from person to person. While your grandmother's condition may have gotten bad at times, it doesn't mean that yours will.
My Aunty has Crohn's and even though we can relate to a lot of things, our experiences are different.

If I can offer any consolation to this, it's that now there's a diagnosis, Drs can help you get better a lot quicker now. Hopefully soon your condition will improve and eventually become stable.
It's tough, but a light at the end of the tunnel is that Crohn's is manageable. And there's different ways this can happen.

Hope things turn around for you soon.
