i hate having crohns

this may not be something people want to hear but my sex life wit my hubby is going down. sex hurts my lower stomach and it is even painful jus wearing tampons. i love my hubby and love making love to him but its to painful. WHAT AM I TO DO?

Hiya harris and welcome,

I know it's really effing easy to get discouraged with crohn's, but just stick this moment through. Your body's talking to you right now; I suggest listening to your body over what your mind loves and wants for a little while. Take it easy and take care of yourself for goodness sake :)

Welcome to the forum, Harris!

Sex and intimacy can be so hard when trying to deal with an illness. And it's even harder when something you enjoy causes you pain. I know that when I'm in a flare, I find it difficult (physically, emotionally) to even consider sex and it can be quite challenging to a relationship.

Have you talked to your doctor about the pain you're experiencing during sex and in wearing a tampon? If putting a tampon on is painful, I'm wondering if there's something more going on inside the vaginal walls. Have you had a pap smear lately?

I agree with what jobengals said, and would also encourage you to talk to your doctor to get yourself checked out more thoroughly.

Take good care,

Kismet

Hi and welcome! I understand where you are coming from. When I am not well, sex is the last thing on my mind. However, pain is not a good sign and maybe an indicator that something could be going on. I agree with Kismet, perhaps you should consider contacting your doctor.

I agree with the advice given so far.

Increased pain isn't a good sign. Your disease could be acting up and causing extra discomfort or there could be something else going on. Best to get your GP involved and maybe even your gyno, for extra measure.

Good luck!

Hi Harris and welcome.

Ditto above - get it checked out. You might need a CT scan or MRI to really get a good view of what's going on inside. Hold off on the sex and tampons for a while until you know what's happening.

Good luck - Amy
