Ill try to keep it short and not post my lifestory.

Lets just say after 7 years of being ill since being 18, i was totally fed up with life i quit my job(was on the last warning for sickness regardless so was just a matter of time) and i took a loan out and just went away to another country for a few months, i just wanted to try and be normal and i even thought with the hot weather and healthy foods i may of even seen some improvements in my health.

Well i am back, even worse than ever, no job, no money, no health.

I have spent the last 7 years self treating candida as the doctors were useless in helping and tried to send me to a mental health place(as of course my symptoms were in my head) About 3 years ago i saw a private thyroid specialist who confirmed adrenal/thyroid problems. The only problem was because he was retired i have to pay for the meds myself(no prescritpion)

Currently i am in the middle of getting a dx for crohns, ive had an MRI of the bowel and coloscopy this week. Even if i do have Crohn's i feel the dx is going to take atleast 1-2 months? Then i have to start treatments ect.... OH and in about 3 months i run out of money and cant afford the loan repayments, or my thyroid/adrenals meds AND im too ill to work.... :(

Hello Steve,

I see you are having a rough time of it. I really do not have a solution to your situation, but I really hope you can get well enough to get back to a more normal life.

What symptoms do you have currently?

Dan

Depressed
Yeast infection
Skin rashes
Food intolerances
Ichy Skin
White coating of the tongue
Pee alot

Sure sounds like Candida to me. That is a tough one to beat back. Your immune system does not seem to be controlling it, and it is hard to replace the immune sytem by any method. I do know coconut oil is antifungal, so you could replace butter, cooking oil and use it as a substitute for anything that calls for butter or oil of some kind.

I have never really had to deal with this, although I am sure I have it to a degree. Most everyone does. I have treated it a couple of times using an experimental treatment, but never enough to know if it helped any.

I do frequenct a few forums where people battle this regularly. I will take some notes on how they treat it and post when I have something that may be promising. I also have an excellent book for treatment of many conditons. I will look up canadida right now and see what suggestions are there.

To read your symptoms, it seems that many of them could be the result of yeast overgrowth. I think if you can get that part under wraps, you likely will feel better. Just my laymans opinion.

Get back to you soon.

Hiya steve n welcome.
My only advice would be to start paperwork for SSDI ( disability) ; however, you do have to have a doc to document status ans symptoms. I wish you the best in getting a dr which will listen to you, evaluate you to your standards and work toward a common goal with you for resolution.
Stay strong and keep your head up! We are all here for you. Thoughts and prayers...-hugs-

Dan this is so true, but the last 7 years of my life have literally been trying to achieve this, i feel like i have been on every fourm, read every book and tried everything possible.

I do know that being on steroids (i am currently on HC) gives me 0% chance to clear the yeast, everytime i have tried to wean from the steroids my stomach and general symptoms get worse and to the point i cant function and i have to go back on them.

If i do have crohns i feel my only chance to get things under control, would be to reduce the inflamtion without steroids (i dont know if this is even possible) so that i could wean from the HC, but i know this could all take a long time indeed.

Thanks Angel, im not so sure how i would go about this, but its something i look into.

I did actually just have my SSP (sick pay) stopped and i have to appeal, as if i needed this extra burden at the moment. "Luckily" there is a 6 month wait and they will continue it until the appeal regardless.

Many here, myself included, incorporate supplements into our treatment to keep inflammation to a minimum at all times. This may prevent a flare from starting, or at least minimize the impact they have. Thye are not as powerful as steroids, but they can prevent the need for steroids, or reduce the amount of time you do need them.

Of course this is a lot easier if you are working and have money to spend. You may have to get some kind of disabilty until you can get your illness under control.

I think this is why I am either extremely sick or well. No real gray area where I feel half sick or any lingering symptoms, it is either well or not well at all. By the time I am sick, I am ready for the hospital, not much in between. This may not sound like much of an accomplishment, but it allows a normal life most of the time, and hopefully even longer as I learn more about how it ticks.

If I had one supplement to help with inflammation it would be Astaxanthin with Alpha Lipoic acid. The two are combined into one supplement. I have bought it from a few different sources. You should take this with fat as it is a fat soluble product. This is where a spoonful of coconut oil comes in handy. Ginger is also antifungal and anti-inflammatory. It is real cheap also.

Yes, it will take some time to get back to functional again. Nothing is fast with this disease.

Let us know what the testing comes up with.

Hey steve, sorry to hear of what a tough time you're having. How do you feel about alternative treatments?

I have looked into Medical Marijuana and LDN, both of them are out of the question. MM as im from the UK and LDN as it would make the yeast worse. But i will have a look into the rest and read the thread thanks.

I do not think that LDN would make the yeast worse. It would likely make it better over time. It boosts the immune system instead of depressing it like most other treatments.

You do need a diagnosis before you can treat it properly.

Too bad you ar in the UK. Supplements are going to be way more expensive, if you can get them at all.

Good Luck

I would of thought exactly the same about LDN, but when i read on the LDN forums they all say not to take if you have yeats problems, or are prone to yeats problems as it can make them worse.

Regarding the Astaxanthin, is there a reason why there i ALA in it, or is it possible to get ALA free version, can u get it from the docs or is it a supplement from a shop?

Just that i have chelated with ALA in the past due to mercury, so probs best i avoid it.

oh and fingers crossed for the results of the tests to be helpfull thanks.

That is interesting about the yeast and LDN. I have never heard of that before, and cannot even fathom why that would be the case. I will have to look into that for sure.

I suspected that you might have a heavy metal problem, and that is why I recommended that form of Astaxantin. Yeast loves heavy metals. Chlorella is also good for removing heavy metals, if that is still needed.

You can get regular Astaxanthin, but without the ALA you really need to take it with Coconut Oil to make sure it is absorbed. If you have intestinal problems, regular fats are probably not going to be absorbed well. The medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil are easily absorbed even by us crohnies.

Thx d-bergy. Tid bit i didn't know. Learn something new everyday :).
Checking in with ya Steve, hows everything going? Hope all is looking better for you. Keep going forward, stay strong!! -hugs-
