I should just start a big thread "Muppet's Whining"

AUGH!!

I just ruined my brand new pants. :(

You don't understand. I only buy a new pair of pants like once every two or three years. I take care of my clothes (well, my wife helps) and they last a LONG time. I don't throw them out until they're threadbare.

I just bought these last week, damn it.

My coworker and I went to the mall on our lunch break so he could pick up a ring for his wife (terminal or near terminal metastasized cancer) and have some lunch. On the way out, we saw a car sitting right in the middle of a parking aisle unattended.

It was a manual and somebody had left it in neutral and forgot to set the brake. We pushed it back into the space but it was on an incline and bound to roll out again, so while my coworker held the car in place I crashed into the nearby woods, heavy with undergrowth, in my work clothes, to go find a couple of rocks to boot the tires.

I found the rocks, but I couldn't part the undergrowth with my hands full and had to bull through. I've got MASSIVE green stains all over my brand new light tan Dockers.

Son of a bitch.

:( that sucks! But you know, you might be able to save them if you treat the grass stains asap.

I'm at work for two more hours. Not a chance. I can't sit here for the rest of my shift with wet/soapy pants.

And yes I recognize the irony in casually mentioning my friend's wife with terminal cancer in a long rant about my stained pants.

well it was nice of you to keep the car from trying to run anyone or anything over..

Bummer Muppet!
But Vanish will get the stains out, failing that, Fairy Liquid, neat. Leave overnight then wash. My son played rugby wearing white shorts!
Failing that, white vinegar
good luck!

I don't know if we have Vanish or Fairy Liquid over here. I was going to try a Shout! stick.

At least our power's back on. I need to update the blog but all my photos are on my Mac at home not on my phone.

Grrrrr.

looks like vanish is sort of like an oxy-clean stain solution and fairy liquid is like Dawn.

When you said you ruined your new pants, I really expected this to be a thread about having an "accident". So, look on the bright side, it's "only" a grass stain and not a poo stain! It still sucks, yes, but is less embarassing and probably easier to remove a grass stain.

True. I haven't had a true clothing-messing incident with my Crohn's for a good 21 years. Now that I've said that...

Well I guess I won't be washing them when I get home because my wife just called me "Hey the water softener came on at noon because the power outage messed up the timer, so I tried hitting a bunch of buttons but that didn't help. It's been running for over 2 hours now, is it supposed to do that?"

AUUUGGGHH!!!

I was gonna say what Cat said lol. There are worse ways to stain your pants! Hope you manage to salvage them though :).

By the way, I think having our own whining threads would be a great idea! Or 'whinging' in Dusty's case - although I'm British so I use that word too haha.

Don't fret, I've used that Shout stick lots of times before. It's pretty good stuff. I typically treat the stains on my kids clothes with a soak in Oxyclean and then Shout stick them before I put them in the wash. In 95% of cases, the stains were gone.

What's the water softener?

Dusty. :)

It's a system that removes the ions in "hard" water like my well water in order to prevent mineral build up and damage to appliances that use water and water fixtures. It prevents hard water stains in the shower and keeps the dishwasher from clogging up with lime, etc.

Our well water is full of potassium, iron, etc. The softener filters the water through a beaded resin that has ionically charged particles that all that stuff sticks to. Then it periodically flushes that resin with brine to clean it off when it loses effectiveness.
