I think I am relapsing after a solid 4 years of feeling better.... losing weight, diarrhea, constipation, stomach aches, nausea, anxiety... I wish I could make it stop. I just need a friend who is going through the same thing. No one really understands unless they have gone through it themselves...

Same thing is happening to me but I got back onto meds and started feeling better minus being sick with colds and flus all the time now (6MP lowering my immune system). Sadly I wish I was losing weight too but that's my own personal issue. :p I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. What medications are you taking?

In 06 I was taking Pentasa and prednisone... Along with various supplements. I successfully weaned myself off for the last 4 years and lived on diet alone. Now think stress is causing the relapse. I just hate the side effects of the meds but I hate feeling bad more. Went to the er on sat.. Got prilosec and zofran.

Maintenance drugs are what have kept me in remission after my surgery over 10 years ago. I was taking Azacol and 6MP but stopped taking both because my insurance stopped paying for it and 2 years after no meds I started having signs of inflammation again. I'm now back on 6MP as my insurance is paying for it again for some reason and I've started to feel better. Diet alone cannot prevent flares but it can help with symptoms like diarrhea, constipation, gas etc. that even people without IBD deal with. Until there's a cure, medication is dire to avoid the flares.

Prednisone is used during flares and is mainly used for short term. I couldn't imagine taking it for 4 years. Do you have a GI doctor? Sounds like you need an appointment and get a colonoscopy done to see what's going on and then possibly get back on meds. I hope you get seen soon and start to feel better quickly after treatment. :)
