Hey everyone!
I was diagnosed with Crohns when I was 15 in 2008. Im having terribly issues with acne and I was wondering what everyones thoughts were about going on accutane. I read somewhere in low dosages it can work well with Crohns. Info about my skin: had great skin from 2008 from 2009 while using proactiv everyday... Pretty sure this messed up my skin. Was on proactiv from Sept 2012 to August 2014 and my skin hasn't been the same. Just terrible. I was on an antibiotic called monocycline for a couple of months but when I was done with it my acne came out worse! Now im back on proactiv and any other face wash makes me break out like crazy! My only idea now is to go on Accutane... But I take a higher dose of Remicade now. Thoughts?

Thanks!

I actually got severe crohns from taking Accutane as a teenager. Google lawsuits against Accutane. it was the SINGLE worst decision of my life. Just wanted to give you a heads up. If I could change ONE thing in my life it would be to go back in time and never take a drug like that. Everyone is different though so maybe it will have no bad effects on you. Good luck!

I had some major Crohn's issues after going on it years ago.
Don't do it unless you have a discussion with your GI doctor first.

If I had to do it again...I would NOT take Acutane.

I would ask to use something else. There are other things now on the market for Acne. Accutane from what I have read has been linked to casing IBD in some. I would not test those waters personally, especially because there are other things out there to try that may be safer.

I also took Accutane and regret it. Acne is caused by a variety of things - I would recommend changing your pillow every night and possibly trying probiotics before going on such a severe drug. My father believes my GI problems were caused by Accutane.
