Hi

Ive had symptoms for a while... when I was born I was F.F.T for most of my childhood and constipation problems also anemia.
Then when i was 14 i was starting to get:

Lower abdominal pain mostly on in my LLQ
Bloating
Nausea
Loose bowels some pencil like

thats all i can think of at the moment but in Feb 2009 i had a colonoscopy which they only found multiple small macular areas and small ulcers but biospies came back normal.

I was then given mucilax for irritable bowel syndrome and did some stools tests with the calprotection comming back mildly high at 82 normal <50

But in October 2009 i was being prepared for a laparoscopy to see if all of the pain was due to endomentriosis but it was cancelled due to high blood pressure and being tacycardic at 160bpm and then a high tempature of 38.5c and Cpr of 71 so i was given a CT scan and that showed...

Mild wall thickening and increased mucosal enhancement of the terminal ilium and Multiple right iliac fossa lymph nodes many of which are enlarged. The largest measures 14mm short axis.
So i had a colonoscopy and the instrument was inserted to the terminal ileum. In the terminal ileum the mucosa was granular and erythematous. In addition, there were serpiginous ulcers. In the terminal ileum they found florid inflammation and ulceration(which was not confluent). With histology report saying ''The histological features are mild but are suggestive of Crohn's Disease''.

I was put on prednisone then azathioprine and while nothing was helping me except the prednisone i was put on humira which i had to come off due making my knees hot and red and sore but as of now i am so much better... no loose bowels they are back to normal and feeling good.

The reason why im dening i have Crohn's is because my symptoms werent so bad like other peoples stories i have heard.

Neither were mine!
I was in denial too, didn't take my meds, was really stupid and thought it had all gone away! WRONG! My inflammation when it hit nearly killed me.
Don't become complacent with this, you're obviously in remission which is great, but don't take your eye off the ball Becca!

Listen to Joan! Everyone's symptoms are different - some people never bleed, some have constipation while others have diarrhea, some gain weight, others lose weight - each case is different!

I was in denial for a long time, too, but one thing I never did was ignore what my body was telling me. I didn't like the name for my disease and I couldn't believe I had Crohn's. It's a hard pill to swallow. But whatever it's called, take it seriously!

Good luck - Hope you continue to feel good - Amy
