I have noticed that there is a big bump across all of my nails that would correspond to the time I was having a 'flare'.. They do say that you can tell a good amount about your health from the state of your nails & hair.. does anyone else get this or similar?

your fingernails will tell the DR a lot. I had little white dots on a few of my fingernails when I went to the ER, they are pretty much cleared up but there are two on one of the nails...

also I heard that a black spot on the fingernail was an indication that one or more of your Chakra's is in need of healing (meditation) to allow for the chi energy to flow freely.

Mine are sunken in the center. This didn't start until a really bad flare 2 years ago. It has partially corrected, but still there.

Mine are really thin and brittle. I was gonna get my nails done and they said no my nails wouldnt hold up. It was embarrasing..

Yeah, I get the ridges too. I had noticed them years before but it was my Dr who said they are a sign of chronic inflammation, another symptom which aided in my diagnoses. I used to only get it on my toes, now on the fingernails. I use these for my own flare-ometer.

I've also noticed the "nail ridges" correlating with GI flares, and particularly when my iritis had really flared. For about 10yrs prior to Dx they tended to split and break easily - interestingly they're much better since I began treatment for Crohn's

The lowe half of my nails are white instead of pink.
My first GI was THE best and always looked at my nails.
Current GI does not even do a physical---never has--- relies on infrequent colonoscopies
I think.
