I was recently asked if a cure was found but it was a limited supply, what would I do to make sure I got it? Nothing!! I've lived with this disease for the last 26 yrs, I'm 54 yrs old and I can wait my turn. I told them that I would hope that all the young kids and young adults would get it first because they have so much life before them and this is a disease that tears apart young peoples confidence.
Next I would want all expecting mothers to get it as long as there are no side effects for the child. Expecting mothers normally go into remission while pregnant and wouldn't it be nice to see them disease free when they give birth so they can completely enjoy this gift they have brought into the world.
Then all those who need it the most. The people that are suffering every day with no relief.

Yes, I can wait my turn, I am strong and I am willing to give up my chance so others can have it.:rosette2:

Great thread! I'm the same way, give it to people who really need it. Those who have had multiple failed surgeries, can't leave their house, any genuinely living in agony because of this stupid disease. Despite what doctor's say, I consider my crohns pretty mild because I don't feel it really effects my life so I'd give my cure young children, older people, and like I said people with the severe cases that limit their lives.

Life is short, everybody deserves a chance at it.

I would give it first to ALL children with Crohn's - under 20 yrs of age.

Then anyone of any age with the severest cases - medication resistant, multiple surgeries etc.

Then I would start with the people age 20 and work upwards in age. Now I am 45, so that means I'd wait awhile but I am in remission on Remicade, haven't had to have a resection, and am managing pretty well - so I could manage a wait of a few years at this level of health.

kllyeve, that the way I feel. I'm in remission, I'm 54 yrs old and had this over half my life. I've never had surgery and I've learned to live with it. Plus I have my wife whom is the best support person anyone could ask for. Yes it gets me down sometimes, but so does running out of toilet paper and I survive that. LOL
I can still work, ride my Harley, go camping or do pretty much what I want. I can wait.

I'd also give the cure to someone else.

I know I can deal with this. I'm going to be alright. I'd rather give it to someone who is truly suffering, and all of the kids who have to deal with it. It'd be great to be cured, but I just don't need it.
