Hello,

I saw my surgeon today after 8 months since my emergency surgery because of a perforated bowel. Very long story, anways...

It has been 8 months and I have just started azathioprine around 2 weeks ago, currently on 100mg but will be advancing to 150 soon. My gastro consultant is very happy for me to have my reversal before I go back to uni in October. I spoke to my surgeon today and he is happy too, he explained the problems I may have, as anyone would have with another operation.

I am just slightly worried about my bowel not joining properly or any other complication. My stoma works fine and always has done, I have no issues with it however it would be good to put him back inside, even though I could continue with him pretty much normally. Anyone got any good stories about their reversal?

I do have crohn's and my bowel which was removed (right hemi and some small bowel) was literally dead of disease, however my mri of my small bowel was normal and so was my colon, apart from have a very mild activity in my rectum which was found on a biopsy. Hopefully that will clear with my meds and ill be alright for the upcoming future..

Thanks in advance.

My reversal went without any complications. I couldn't wait to get rid of that damn bag.

My disease did progress for a while, but I am sure that was going to happen regardless. Things are stable now and have been for over five years. I have no regrets about the reversal. I never had any love for the bag as you might have guessed.

Good luck to you.

Dan
