Hello all , nice to find a place like this. I have been struggling with UC for 4yrs now. In the beginning it was way out of hand, we have came pretty far on the stools from 20+ to 6 a day. I have had other medical issues as well but that's neith here nor there. I am pretty much ready to give up. This constant pain, pressure is getting the best of me. I have 3 wonderful kids with whom I am not able to play much with them cause the pain gets to strong. Did or does anyone have this and major stomach cramps that make you double over? What has worked? My heating pad is my best friend. Also needle like pain in the rectal area

A hot bath works for me. It is a struggle when you have small children. I remember well. Are you on any meds? There is an enema treatment for the rectal area--but I can't remember the name of it. I had the pressure/pain thing going until I started on Humira. My daughter has UC and she uses a suppository that works really well. How is your relationship with your doctor? Is he/she aware of the pain you are in?

My colitis is not consist of constipation it more of I can't keep food in. Yes meds I'm on high does lialda 3x daily also antitripamen(sp) 2xdaily I was at dr today she is one who thinks she knows all just gives excuses for pain. I know this is not rite

You need to find someone who understands how ill you are, and how upset you are at not being able to care for your children in the way you want. You have the right to demand good medical care.

I hope this helps. If nothing else, it's a good place to start to find a new physician.

the need like pain in the rectal area is spasms hun. my doctor prescibed me a anti-spasm med called bentyl 20mg. you should talk to your dr about it. it helps alot!

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I'm so sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble I agree with carrollco, maybe try another doctor. There are plenty of absolutely fantastic gastroenterologists out there, you deserve one.

In addition, you may want to look at the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I know many with UC have done well on it.
