How do you guys deal with colds on remi? Ive been taking azathioprine since 2007 but never really noticed it affect my immune system, since starting Infliximab though I've had two colds which I'm really struggling with.

The last one gave me cough which lasted about two weeks and now I have another cold.:( I have asthma but Ive never had problems clearing my lungs with a good cough, recently though I feel like they're full and i can't clear them..hope that makes sense.

Any suggestions on ways to get better quicker?, I find it hard ringing in sick because "its just a cold", but it's really draining me I'm knackered! :sign0085:

I've always dealt with colds by doing the following THE SECOND I suspect a cold is coming on:

1- Increase vitamin C intake. Mostly via eating fruit and veggies high in vitamin C.
2- Keep hydrated with a lot of warm liquids.
3- Take it easy on my body and mind. Try to de-stress from work. Get an hour or two more sleep.

By doing this right at the onset of a cold, I've noticed that the cold goes away MUCH faster than if I do nothing at all at the beginning.

However, it sounds like you are already in full cold mode, so I suggest you stick to #2 and #3. Rest really does wonders for the body.

I'm no longer on Remicade. However, you need to take any difficulties with breathing very seriously. Report this to your doctor and insist on a chest x-ray. I discontinued have severe lung issues-not necessarily related to remicade-possibly.

When I was on Remicade and later Humira I got colds all of the time. I often was forced to take antibiotics to fight what my body couldn't. I'd go with the better advice of Scoutfinch.

Good luck, feel better soon!

I would agree with the previous post. Get checked out at your GI doctor. Last year I had a cough and fever for 21 days straight. After 18 days my doctor did bloodwork to find liver levels through the roof. I had histoplasmosis in the liver and lungs, spent 9 days in the hospital and it took me 8 months to really recover. I've really never been the same since then as far as stamina and tiredness. Remicade is a serious drug, get checked out at least.
