imuran anyone??

Hello everyone!!! I am 28 yrs old, and I have lived with Crohns for about 9 years. I had surgery 2 years ago, and i can honestly say that was the best thing that could have happened to me (besides my 5yr old daughter). I am currently taking imuran, and i have some concerns. I was first taking 6mp, then it was switched to imuran. Basically i need to know if anyone has had any problems with the medicine. For the most part i havent had any problems with the meds, i guess im more concern about the long term affects being that it could cause cancer. Could anyone out there help ease my mind in regards to the new drugs!!

I'm paranoid about the cancer aspect, too, especially since I'm also on a biologic. However, I will say that I have a history of skin cancers and haven't had any issues with those since starting it. I've only been on it 9 weeks, though.

I havent had any problems since starting it 2-3yrs ago. Im not worrying about cancer in the future either. It may happen, it may not but at the moment I have a serious problem with my bowels which I think needs as much help as possible (and thanks to remicade its getting it)

I actually refused Imuran because of the side effects and I have a history of cancer in my family so I have an increased risk. I really do hope for you guys that you have great success with the drug.

Thanks everyone for the replies!! I will continue the drug per doctors orders, and try my best to do preventative things in regards to cancer, i.e omega-3s and eating healthy.

You're doing the bloodwork required for Imuran right?
