:sign0085:Hi, my son was diagnosed with Crohn's in 2012 when he was 10. He's now 12 and is on Azathioprine 100 mg per day. Last flare was in January 2013 when he and I both caught the Rhino flue. He never has problems eating anything. Never has a flare because of a food or drink I mean. Now with a new doctor we've questioned him about my son having Crohn's. He then told us about this new blood test to see where his markers are.

My question's:
How reliable is this test?
If you had one done, what did you think about the results?
Would you suggest it to a friend/ family member?
When did you have the test done? (begining, middle, late in your Crohn's / Colitis diagnoses)
Was it expensive? ( copay, or all taken care of by insurance )

Please feel free to include any other feelings or information you have on this test or post.

Thank you!

Hi Smile Please.

Its been years since I was diagnosed so I'm not going to be much help. Personally I wouldn't draw to many conclusion from one test.

Are you talking about the prometeus test? In my opinion is not a test to give a diagnose, it is used to complement other tests and is not 100% accurate. When it was done for my son his GI did not take it in consideration due to... blood was send to an adult Lab and was supposed to go to one that does it for kids. It is expensive. It depends on your insurance so ask before. Just my opinion. Hopefully other members will give you more info.
