Sorry for all the posts recently but my boy has decided to go for infliximab. Feeling really nervous about it all 😕 xx

It's much easier for the kid than the parent
The first infusion or two I felt physically ill
Ds could care less and slept /ate/watched movies
As with any new med it gets easier over time and then you never want to stop the med and have the opposite fear

Fingers crossed it works quickly

I'm glad you have the decision behind you! Infliximab has been a great medicine for my daughter. It did take a while to work for her, and we had to adjust the frequency and dose to get good levels. Once it kicked in for her, though, it's worked well. She's gained 40 pounds and 4 inches in the past year, her inflammation markers have dropped to normal levels, and she has hardly missed a day of school this year (after being out for 6 months last year).

I hope it works really well for your son! When does he start?

I'm like this with every med he's tried.....will feel sick to the stomach too on infusion day.nwe live so far away too so not looking forward to the journey but we had to go along with what he wanted xx

I was very nervous too - I felt like I was holding my breath for the whole first infusion! Honestly, it's pretty easy for the kiddo once the IV is done. My kids loved to chance to relax and watch TV and nap and miss school! And it worked well for both of them, though we did have to find the right dose and frequency for both.

Good luck!! Hope it's his miracle!

He had his chest X-ray and bloods last week and we had until Monday to decide on humira or infliximab so I think will be pretty soon he will start it.nx
I'm dreading any reaction to it....I really need to stop going into panic mode too 😳 xx

I've been on Remicade for years and love it! I stopped for a short time bc it was hard to get to my infusion with a newborn kiddo.. But am back on it, it's my miracle drug.. It's helped me to lead a very normal life..

That is great

I hated that my son needed Remicade, but he's been doing pretty well with it since April 15'. Each time we go, I worry a little that he will have a reaction, but so far so good. It's really helped him. I hope it helps your son, too. Good luck!!!

Good luck!! Hope everything goes smoothly! Make sure he is hydrated so that it is easier to find a vein for the IV.

I felt sick thinking that my son would be taking this med but, it's been three years now and I barely worry now. It's taken away his inflammation. Other than going to infusions, he never thinks of crohns. It's always heartbreaking for parents and so scary when you think of the risks! BUT, try to remember he's exposed to risks everyday - sports, swimming, cars, etc... You wudnt think of avoiding those things bcz they improve his quality of life. Remicade, with its VERY small risks will also improve his QOL and keep him healthy until newer and better treatments are available. Hugs, it's a tough decision but when you see him feel and look good, you'll be glad you made it. :ghug:

Hope that all goes smoothly Friday, and that Remicade works really well for him! :ghug:
