injection

i had my colonscopy 2day and the doctor said my small intestine is inflammed an will be talkin 2 me soon about injections treatment what are they is any1 else getting them????

There are at least a couple of different meds that are taken by injection - Humira is one...you should talk to your doctor and see exactly what he is looking at putting you on.

Are you on anything right now?

Remicade (Infliximab) is another med that's an injection. So many of us are spoken to rather quickly after a scope while we're still groggy and some don't get spoken to at all unfortunately but if you didn't get the whole story or you forgot or they didn't speak to you then you gotta call them back and ask them what's going on. I hope you get a hold of your doctor soon. Keep us posted.

Don't forget Cimzia!

I have seen - might just be me personally - but it seems as though the semi-normal route of injectable meds is Remicade, then Humira, then Cimzia. I know every doctor and every case is different, but this is the normal route I've seen.

- Remicade is injected through IV, usually in hospital.
- Humira can be injected at home and comes in pen form if you ask. The pens are much easier to use on yourself, but Humira stings like a #$%^&*!!
- Cimzia is not available in pens as it is much thicker, but it barely hurts at all and they have a traveling nurse program that your doc can help you set up.

Each of these meds are a little different, but work along the same idea. Wikipedia is a great site to read up on them as they don't have much of the chest thumping and crowing about how great their own med is.

Personally I have gone through the first two and just started Cimzia. My toes are crossed that it works!

Also another injectable is Methotrexate. I'm on that now. If this doesn't work, we move to Remicade and Humira is my last choice.

My doctor gave me the choice of Remicade, Humira, or Cimzia. I chose Cimzia first since it's a simple, painless monthly injection (well, two but...)
