Hi guys I had my gastroenterology appointment today after waiting a while for this day. The gastro doc discussed my results which were all not that signficant after having a colonscopy procedure last summer, which showed only mild inflammation in my large bowel.
He said my bloods were more or less clear except that I had in the past had elevated liver enzymes a sign of liver distress. Then I got on to telling him about the week I had had complete with what felt like an obstruction with nausea, vomiting and pain and bloating. He said my history of symptoms all point towards crohns disease including the fact that I have osteopenia and declining weight.
So then he chased up the rest of my results, now I have just found out that my pancreas is not functioning properly which probably accounts for near enough all the symptoms i've had this week. I cant believe it!!! He asked me whether I had a family history of pancreatic disease which isn't the case and then told me crohn's can affect the liver and pancreas aswell. He's got me on digestive enzymes and an anti-ulcer drug which he said should hopefully end my symptoms and allow me to put on weight providing it's just my pancreas which is a mess.
Now he is sending me off for a CAT scan of my pancreas complete with more tests to find out if all my suffering over the years is Crohn's. Im having a camera endoscopy , im sure everyone knows what that is, and a barium meal to check for obstructions and strictures in my small bowel.
Im confident that I will finally get to the bottom of why im so ill all the time and can finally move on. Its weird that even though I've recieved bad news I actually feel relieved that finally im not suffering in silence , despite IDIOT A&E doctors thinking im some kind of IBS wielding hypochondriac.looool.
WISH ME LUCK GUYS,IM GONNA NEED IT. XX
