Can anyone recommend any GI friendly iron supplements??
Just had letter from my IBD nurse specialist letting me know my ferritin is really low again and I'm a bit anaemic. Unfortunately me and my crohn's don't have a good track record with oral iron supplements - tends to irritate my gut a lot and I don't absorb very well. In fact last time my ferritin/Hb dropped lowered with the oral stuff!!!
I've ended up needing infusions in the past but would like to avoid if i can. Trying to eat iron rich foods dut this is a little tircky at the moment as I'm still on a low fibre/residue diet after recent flare - so wholemeal, greens, grains, dried fruit all out at the moment! Does anyone know any superfoods on the iron front that are friendly for crohnie's?? Eggs are about the only thing I have come up with!
Cheers
