Is baby asprin safe?

My husband and I are starting fertility treatments and one of the recommended steps is to take a 81mg baby asprin daily to stimulate blood flow to the uterus. I was told to never take anything other than Tylenol for pain. Does anyone know if 81mg of asprin will be disruptive to the Crohn's?

I think you should talk to your GI before taking aspirin. In general, NSAIDs (including aspirin) are a no-no if you have IBD, but if you need it for fertility treatments, maybe your GI and your OB can discuss it. Does your OB, or whoever prescribed it, know you have crohn's?

Good luck with the fertility treatments!

Yes, he knows. He didn't actually ever mention the baby asprin to me, but it was in the instruction packet. I am not sure it's at all vital to the success of the treatment, but I'd like to give myself the best odds!

I looked into this for myself once, and the consensus seems to be that 81 mg is too low of a dose to cause problems. Ask your GI doctor of course, but that is what I found in my research.

I take 1 low dose 81 mg bayer a day. I have had a heart attack and I can't take Plavix or any of the other blood thinners because they cause me to bleed inside. So it a 81mg for me.

anyone else take this? i just read online a woman said one baby aspirin a day has kept her spastic colon from relapsing. she has been doing it for 5 years. i feel better after i take an advil but it makes me bleed if i take too much. anyone? anyone? bueller?

I've never heard of that....I do however know that Advil is a no-no for us Crohnies...so stop taking that for sure.
