Hey all, this may seem like a silly question but i'm new to Crohn's and am still trying to get a grasp on whats 'normal'
I know it's different for everyone, but I'm just wondering if it's normal to what I only describe as ache, left side pain/aches I was expecting as that's what started everything, but I also ache on the left hand side, sometimes lower sides, near my back basically aches here there and everywhere and sometimes what I can only describe as a hot/heat ache?

I'm new to Crohn's as well. I also have aches and pains, mostly in the morning when i wake, and mostly in my lower back. I am also trying to figure out what is "normal". It is so different for everyone.

In my opinion there is no "normal" for crohn's. Everyone is different and every flare is different and when you're in remission, you don't have any symptoms. No pain is normal, there's always a cause. Treat the cause and the pain should subside returning you back to "normal." "Normal" is remission. Anything else is a flare and requires treatment.

A better word to use for flares may be "common" but what's common for one person is different for another and so on.

In the end it all boils down to not ignoring symptoms because that's where people run into trouble. Don't think of it as "common" or "normal," think of it as what it is, an incurable disease that requires treatment.

A smart person once told me that crohn's isn't something that sticks to the book. Each person will vary with their symptoms.

I get really achy legs all the time and feel achy in general. I believe that's to do with my IBD but it could be because I am ill and sat down a lot and not moving my legs around as much as others.

Hi there, I think it is perhaps safe to say that it is not uncommon for aches and pains to occur when the crohns is not in full remission. I tend to get issues on and off with my knees, ankles, knuckles and lower back, they can be particulary bad if I am also feeling tired. I keep a hot water bottle and microwave beanies on hand for times like this and a hot bath is always nice as well :)
