Is it obvious if the injection has gone wrong?

is it obvious if you haven't injected it properly? (I'm using the pen).

Today after the injection had finished I noticed that the area of skin just around where the needle entered was slightly damp. It was only a very, very tiny amount of liquid, and the needle definitely punctured the skin (as I was bleeding).

Has anyone else had this happen to them? If so what did you do?

I've had a tiny drop of liquid where I injected. My nurse said to make sure you can see the yellow thing that moves as you inject. When it seems to be finished - the yellow thing is all the way at the bottom or top, I forget, and you've heard the gurgle that says it's done, count 5 seconds (like one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two, etc) to make sure you really got it all injected. No droplets or moisture after that.

Unless you had liquid running down your skin for a while, sounds like it wasn't enough to worry about, but I would call someone if I were still concerned.

I had an injection (or me) malfunction once--the medicine starting discharging before the puncture. There was lots of liquid running down my belly. As it has been explained to me, a drop or two at the injection site is normal.

A small amount is pretty normal. My wife gives me the shots (she is an RN) and she says that is normal with any subcutaneous injection.

Hi,

I have a bit of blood as well as some liquid after my injections.
Been injecting for over two years, never really concerned me. As long as the yellow gage is fully showing in the window of autopen the you will have injected all the medicine.

Yes, it its very obvious when you misfire. You have medicine flying everywhere but inside you.

lol like DougUte said, the medicine goes just about everywhere except for where it should!

I remember doing humira pens and uncontrollably pulling the pen out before the medicine even got in so because it was already released, it ended up all over my walls, floor, ceiling, etc lol. It was not fun to clean up!......every single week

I just had a similar experience. I pressed the button, and it hurt so much that I did not notice I was not holding it down firmly, so the pen pushed up from me. So instead of fully injecting in my leg, a bunch stayed inside that whitish plastic tube that makes contact with your skin. I think the tube has to stay inside the larger pen case for the needle to get it all to go into the skin. When I let it up, then it all drizzled down. And I though, "Sh**-there went all the medicine". Inicidentally, the pain seems to be growing every time. I am starting to dread the shot. Its better than a flare, though.

I just numb the area and inject away, I find its best to get it over with no matter what. I weigh what a flare feels like against a injection. :)
