is `mild imflamation` a biopsy result?

i had a sigmoid and also an endiscope to which my stomach was full of food after 12 hour fasting.......so i have to go back for another endiscope. she told me i had imflamation in the bowel and they took biopsys and was to phone up about a week later. I phoned up and she said all it said was mild imflamation but i already had been told that by the nurse? is that what a biopsy result consists of?

A proper lab report from a pathologist will indicate the types of cells present and whether they are consistent with a diagnosis of Crohn's or other inflammatory process.
The fact remains that you do have some inflammation there and it should not be.
It may be that results are indeterminate to an accurate diagnosis and it is a good thing that you will be having some more endoscopic investigations.
Without fasting the picture is muddied and the doctor cannot see the bowel walls as clearly and will likely miss being able to make a critical evaluation.
Hopefully you have a colonoscopy scheduled, this is the gold standard for diagnosis.
It is critical to the evaluation to have a very clean bowel before examination.
This means carefully following all the directions for bowel preparation.
Feel better soon

In some cases yes. Some have inflammation and some have ulcers. Too bad your stomach was full. I would next time just have fluids the day before. Digestion is also a culprit. I just had a scope and said no worse no better , but same ulcerlike lesions. I go for my biopsy results on the 23rd. As mentioned alot on the forum everyone is different and even though it can be a mild inflammation it can still wreak havoc. Are you on any meds and are you in the states?

:hang:

I am half a scot.... seems to be on the scotish side that suffer IBD , very genetically run in the family. Sometimes using a good probiotic, depending where your area of inflammation is, there are beneficialy ones to help fight it off. Good luck. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
