Is my Crohns getting worse?

I've been diagnosed with Crohns for a while now but just a mild form as my doc says. I've only had symptons where I suddenly get really bad stomach pains, which leads to vomiting and lasts for about half the day/night. It hasn't been that bad and I maybe get an "attack" every 3/6 months. The doc put me on Pentasa and Budesonide and I've been taking them regular for a while.

Recently, actually from about Thursday last week, I've had a worrying eposide where I am running to the toilet alot with diarrhea, most of the time about 30 mins after I have eaten something. It's still happening and it's now been 4 days!

It's starting to worry me and I was wondering if this was a sign of my Crohns getting worse?! It can't be anything like food poisioning because it wouldn't last this long. I'm confused... anyone have any advice?

It could be...the best option to go to the doctor and get it checked out. Better to catch it sooner, rather than later. Good luck!

Hiya
I'm just wondering about your meds, I'm sorry but they did nothing for me, too mild. Maybe your condition has progressed? maybe you need something stronger?
I have absolutely no D with Pred.
Talk to your doc, you don't have to put up with D, lots of meds out there, good luckxx

A mild form of crohns? I didn't know there were different forms. :p Crohns disease is Crohns Disease and yes you could be having a flare. Now that you're diagnosed, it would be a good idea to keep in touch with your GI and see them on a regular basis such as having a regular scope done every couple of years (even if you don't have symptoms!) and to also check to see if your meds need to be altered or changed and to get blood work done because many meds require it (some meds can mess you up over time). I would suggest making an appointment and tell them all of your symptoms no matter how unimportant you think they are. Write down your symptoms and how long they last just in case they stop cause people tend to forget how bad they used to feel. And don't cancel your appointment if you start feeling better.

I do go to regular appointments, got one coming up in April so will tell them whats happening. I'm surprised about you saying I should have a scope done every couple of years, as my doctor hasn't suggested any apart from the initial one I had done.

I just hope it doesn't get too bad, reading all these stories in this forum makes me scared and sad :(

How long ago were you diagnosed? Don't be scared or sad. We all feel that way sometimes but that's why we all started coming here. Talking about it helps a lot. I'll admit that some of us have some pretty bad stories but a lot of people don't. I think most people who have terrible stories are the ones who weren't diagnosed right away. Having to wait to fix a problem can cause major damage. It took over a month before I was diagnosed in 1991. So far, you're already diagnosed and if you pay attention to your symptoms and see your doc regularly, then you're off to a great start in managing your disease.

My old GI said that people with crohns should have a scope done on a regular basis. At first you go from every 2 years and then to every 4 years when you feel you're in remission. It's just to take a look and make sure that everything is alright and also catches problems early before they get out of hand. It's a preventative measure. I always get put under when I have one done though. ;) I don't like being awake for it. I also see it as a chance to get some sleep.

Sorry for the late reply...

I was diagonsed about two years ago after going through a year of tests. Wasn't to keen on the scope but I see what you mean by having a look. I will defo tell me doc about this when I see him next.

Hi quaium,

This is not a static disease where the symptoms it caused yesterday will be the same that it causes today or in 10 years. Try not to stress too much over changes in your condition, but be mindful of what is changing. I know personally that stress is a contributor to some of my symptoms and ensuring I have enough downtime/rest is important way for me to manage my symptoms.

Having a new symptom is a good time to think about what was happening up until that point? Were there changes in diet, stress, climate or anything? Anything could have an impact so it is a good idea to try and think of all the things that could have possibly happened to cause this. Of course you may never be able to pin it down but it is always a good idea to try and determine what the main aggrevators of your disease are.

Good luck and don't sweat it.... I know that for me there is a certain feeling I get when there is a bowel obstruction. This is not always what it turns out to be, but there is no doubt in my mind that being more worried/stressed about the situation makes the pain worse!
