I've been finding blood on my toilet paper for quite a while which even included a black stool at the start of taking Azathioprine but this then became Brown now varying between normal once a day to three times a day including diarrhoea once or twice. However also been having bleeding beforehand even more severely. As an alternative my consultant even offered a weekly Humira instead of fortnightly but I only had this Humira last week. Thanks.

Hi and welcome. Azathioprine shouldn't cause bleeding. Call your doctor to let him/her know.

Hope you feel better soon.

If only it was that easy but convincing my parents will be impossible as they think it's only a graze. What do I say to them? Thanks.

What do you mean graze? Black stool means a bleed higher up in the GI tract.

Aza shouldn't cause bleeding.

What do you think is causing the blood?

I'm not sure what else to add. Is there something else you're thinking of?

All I can say is aza doesnt /shouldn't cause bleeding. Black stool suggest a bleed higher up the GI tract.
You try the pharmacy to see of this is a rare side effect of aza.

Black stool should be reported to the doc.

But only via a secretary or smartphone for the nurse service also I take it u mean the consultant same thing with gp via reception

Yes. In Canada I would be calling my GI doctors nurse if iI had black stool. I definitely wouldn't let it slide.

Also having a rash on my left thigh, could this be it. It's causing mobility to bea pain. Also mum has booked an appointment with gp
