Is this from tapering?

I'm tapering off prednisone. I started at 40mg and I'm down to 5. Will be done in a few days!

Toward the end of my 10mg dose, I started developing knee pain. Not sure if it's the joint or the tendon or what exactly. It's mainly my left leg but a little in my right knee too.

Could this be from tapering?

I was recently DX so all of this stuff is new to me. I read that joint pain is common with Crohnies. But I never had oroblems until now.

I know I get knee pain when I lower my dose. My knees were really sore when I tappered the other month there but since they've put me back up again they're not sore now but I'm sure it'll start again when I taper again. I can't remember how long it lasted the time before as it was a good few years ago. Hope you're feeling a bit better soon

Interesting ... Did you have knee pain at all before tapering? Or was it caused by it?

I do have pain in my knees every now and then but when I was tapering it was definitley more painful and the pain was there all the time rather than just sometimes.

When I was on steroids the first time around, while tapering off, I noticed I had more joint pain than before. Being two years ago, looking back, I think the pain was/is associated with my Crohn's. Prior to going on steroids the first time, I had only been diagnosed a couple of months and my disease was no where as severe as it as when I was tapering off, or now. I think the steroids were just masking the IBD associated joint pain/ arthritis.

The pain has lasted all week, and each day it hurts a little bit more. Now full blown in both knees.

I'm thinking of making a Dr. appt. Since I've never experienced this pain before, should I make it with my General practitioner? or should i assume it's related to crohns and call my GI?

What's strange is that it's on the inner part of my knees, like the pain is on the right side of my left knee and the left side of my right knee. Ugh, I dread calling the dr, I can't even begin to explain the type of pain I feel, it's indescribable

My last round on the prednisone was very difficult. Joint pain like crazy at around 10mg . I hurt so extremely bad from it they had to prescribe me tramadol. I take 2-3 just for pain every day (along with other meds ). Hurts the worst in my knee, elbows, and around my collar bone, near my arm. Working with my gi and rhumetalogist to figure out well everything.....
My best wishes for you, hope you fin some relieve.
