Hi everyone. I am 15 and I was diagnosed with IBD. My GI prescribed prednisone 20MG for only 2 weeks. I am now on my second week. After taking my first course of the steroids my stool became normal and after a long time of bloody diarrhea I no longer have diarrhea at all my stool is completely normal. However I still have a small amount of blood in my stool. Example when I wipe there is still some blood. The doctor said start tapering off the steriod after 2 weeks. But what about the small amount of blood? Is that normal even though I no longer have diarrhea? Thank you.

What type of IBD were you diagnosed with? Where is the inflammation? If it is rectal, it may take a bit for the blood to calm down/go away. But, I too think it best to contact your doctor to be sure. Take care.

I agree you should tell your Dr about it- he may want to change your doage. It's also important to taper off the pred, as your Dr has said, rather than just stop taking it. Best of luck to you! Let us know what happens.
