I use Medical Marijuana (MMJ) for what I consider to be severe Crohn’s with a helping of bouts with Diverticulis. At 60 years old they have removed 18 inches of my large intestine for abbesses as a result of Diverticulis. They also removed 5 inches of my small intestines for Crohn’s strictures. It is difficult to eat and I am never without pain, I also struggle constantly with flu like symptoms. Maximum use of extra strength Tylenol helps a little if I am not active. Morphine based pain meds make me sick. I live in Colorado and have a state license for medical cannabis. It helps with the flu symptoms, pain, nausea, and loss of appetite and some of the emotional issues associated with years of chronic pain. It does NOT eliminate any or all of my issues but it is of more help than anything else so far including the use of self injecting meds. I would like to state that to me using street drugs of any kind including cannabis is a bad idea. Smugglers pour all sorts of toxic chemicals over cannabis to kill the smell. At this time I live in Colorado and we have access to extremely high quality organic cannabis. Yes it is stronger than Mexican dirt pot but most of all it is consistent in its properties. I am able to select from a very large array of hybrid stains that affect my body in very specific ways. Instead of the one size fits all drugs from the medical community one can try various strains until they find what works best for them. I also use a vaporizer to cut down on inhaled particles. In addition, under our state laws a consumer can grow up to six plants at their home. Unfortunately, the federal government is attempting to reverse the progress made in MMJ and they are shutting down dispensaries at an alarming rate. I have been off work for nearly a year now due to surgeries and complications. Before that I worked as a vocational instructor in a men’s prison for five years and a computer network administrator for international corporations. I only started using cannabis a year ago after struggling with the diseases for nearly two decades. I am under no delusion that some people are abusing the system for MMJ but I truly hope that they do not completely get rid of MMJ until the drug companies come up with more effective drugs.
