It's back again!

Back in 1988 when I was 16 went to the hospital with bad stomach pains. Ended up getting my appendix out the same day. Was inflamed with lots of infection. Discovered I had crohns which just about made my appendix burst.

On medication for 1 year after surgery then completely taken off. No problems till I'm 18. Feeling crappy for a couple months. Lost prob 40 pounds. Looked pretty bad. Went to emergency in crazy pain. Addmitted that day. They tried everything to make it better but the meds did nothing. Had to have surgery. Tough couple weeks. Got put on meds for 1 year then taken off. Felt great. Like a new person.

Fine for 20 years. May 2010 it came back for a visit all of a sudden. Massive pain one day. Went to hospital and Got admitted the same day. On antibiotics for a week. Felt better. Put on azathioprine and entocort. Started feeling better for a couple months. July 2010 back in hospital. Same pain. Had another week stay and more antibiotics. Upped the meds. Doing alright now. Pain once in a while.

GI appt Tom. To discuss ct scan and blood work last week. Hope all is well.

That's my little story. Happy to find this place.

Hello fellow British Columbian! Sorry to hear some symptoms have re-occurred. This forum has lot's of information. May I ask what meds you were on for a year after your surgery?

Thanks man. I've learned more in the last couple weeks than in the last 22 years. The meds after the surgery I don't really remember. I know I was on flagyl for a while. I was on one more for about 10 months or so, then taken off everything. Was nice while it lasted.

Welcome Lost!! It's fairly odd I think to not be prescribed some sort of maintenance drug, but a twenty yr. remission!! It's hard to argue with that!! I hope you can find your way back there!! Good luck!!
