Well the MRI showed no active Crohns which good but they said I have IBS. I don't know how to deal with IBS. Anyone got any advice?

I was diagnosed in 2002 with IBS and nothing helped (my doc told me to take fiber-con). I finished college and the IBS disappeared...stress??

I am in the same boat as you...a crohnie now dealing with IBS. My doctor's advice was to take fiber supplements which is a joke, but I have started taking probiotics and am going for two weeks gluten-free, alcohol free and cutting out as much sugar as possible to see if that helps. I have to do something! It's been three days so far, so I can't say if any of this has helped or not. But I feel like maybe I have some type of bacterial imbalance or something going on, so cutting down on the gluten will also cut down on the yeast. I don't know. Maybe grasping at straws, but like I said, i have to do something!

Let me know how it goes. I have another friend trying the fiber approach too.

I have IBS and Crohn's too. I find peppermint tea or peppermint oil capsules are good. Or , I take an anti spasmodic called Buscopan (in the uk) which works well.
Hope you find something that works for you!

I seem to have both (my stomach hates life). Next apt. I'm starting low doses of anti-depresents because it's the nerves are giving wrong signals and so anti-drepresents help fix the wiring issues.

or that's my understanding.
good luck

Just an update. It has been 8 days since I have started taking probiotics and have been gluten free. So far so good. I feel better than I have in months and have a lot more energy too. I think I will try to introduce gluten slowly back into my diet and see if I can make it with just the probiotics. The gluten free thing is really hard, so I have to figure out if it's necessary since I started the probiotics at the same time. But if it is what I have to do to keep feeling well, it will be worth it.

Hi! My mom has ibs (I have crohns), and she has found eating clean is what helps her. Basically you cut out almost all your sugar ( except for natural sugars from things like fruit), and go on a high fiber diet. She has had ibs for almost 8 years and it's the only thing that has helped her. Also try Flax seed and probiotics.
