Hi all, Pete here. the back story.
-diagnosed with microscopic colitis nine years ago
-mostly controlled with diet and pepto-bismo, still a lot of joint pain/fatigue but way less D
-started smoking pot about four years ago, more for stress release then anything else
-failed drug test at work about three years ago, thought Id waited long enough.
So, I had to see a psychologist and convince her I would just quit, and was safe to work. Funny thing is, after bad flare and further research I found that high cbd pot might work. To get it, I got my medical marijuana license and tried to order some. Turns out that the really high cbd (20%) stuff with almost no thc (2%or less) is hard to get but some with 10% thc and 17% cbd is available. I get some , try it and for me it's really helpful. I just failed another drug test, and even though I'm legal, they still want me to do an assessment. How do I approach this? Any advice?

Hi Pete,

I'm another MC sufferer, with historically fatigue and pain. The D could be terrible too. Such a lovely disease.

If I were in your shoes, having taken legal medical pot to help improve your condition but being asked by the company for an illegal drug assessment, I would begin keeping notes of events. You want to keep a record of what you are doing. Hopefully it will not come down to needing an attorney to help out in your case, but if it does it will be helpful to have records.

I can imagine for some companies, dealing with workers on medical marijuana is new and could go against standard operating procedures when it comes to drug testing.

As a side note, I've been able to increase my energy levels nicely of late though dietary changes. I still have a ways to go with recovery, but have hopes I'm finally heading in a forward direction.

That's good advice, thanks Beach. I'm starting a diet/med/symptom log as of today. Glad to hear diet change is helping for you, and curious as to how you did it. Testing or eliminating then adding foods slowly? Any meds?
This is what I'm doing:
-no wheat
-up to 1gr. (8ml) of 10% THC, 17% CBD oil. when I'm not working I do this every day.
-pepto for two weeks at a time at work.
- easy on alcohol, red wine or bourbon, never more than two and not very often.
-supplements and vitamins.
Just got an email from my supplier (mettrum) They have finally got the 2%THC/20% CBD oil! going to order some and will let you know the results .Also seeing the psychologist next week. Wish me luck. Pete

update; For the last month I've taking 16mg of THC, 160mg CBD a day. It doesn't work as good at settling my gut, but still helps with the pain and fatigue, and it doesn't get me high. I'd like to take a higher dose of THC in the evening for pain and to help me sleep better but there's no way I could pass a 15ng/ml (witch work requires before I can return) pee test so I'll live with it. I'm still testing positive for THC at 20ng/ml but negative at 50ng/ml. I'm hoping that in another week or so I'll be good at 20ng/ml too.
