Yaaaay! I'm now officially a member of the stoma club. Today is "Ginny's" bday! She was made at around 4 something in the afternoon! Lol. So excited can't wait to begin a brand new journey!!! Be ready my forum friends I'm sure I'll have some quest and advise that will be coming up as I learn to live with my new friend!! :)

Welcome to the club. You need to rest up today and take it easy. If you can tomorrow start walking as much as you can to wake up those bowels. When you fart, or pee and poop your nurses will be all excited and you may be able to have a liquid diet in the next day or two and graduate to a soft low fiber one.

I just had my ileostomy made too. It's a tough journey and I'm learning so much. There are great people here to help you along and I will help as much as I can too.

Thanks NGNG! Yup we are newbies. And I saw some of your concerns w leakage so thank you for preparing me w all of those quest w my wound nurse. Little did u kno u helped me to expect the unexpected. Lol

I think every question on here big or small is worth it. If you can think it you aren't the only one with that question.

Definitely check out the United Ostomy Association of America, they are chock full of info and run support groups. It's a great org.

Yay! You sound very energetic so that's good! :) You and Ginny get along just great when you get to know each other! :)

Welcome to the world ginny. May you continue to provide cG with lots of relief and healing. :) :ghug:

Aww.. I'm reading my old posts and I guess I was oddly chipper for my first day. I'm sure I was on a pretty high dosage of Dilauded. Haha. Anyway yes walking took some time but I was back to my normal self within a month from my surgery. I was really prepared thanks to my stoma nurse and my forum friends. It's been quite a journey but I'm still happy happy happy with Ginny! There's talk about it being permanent since I'm still not healing. At this point I have a little mixed feelings because in my head I thought it be temporary. But I have faith that whatever needs to be done it would be for the best! Thanks again everyone for all of your support! 😊

Hi cg aw sorry to hear your not healing to quick.glad your happy with Ginny, my hetty was my best friend for 12 months she saved my life as far as I'm concerned .now she is back inside, but if she has to come back out at some point I'll welcome her back with open arms because of the relief she gave me from all of the pain I suffered before she was born.!! best of luck what ever happens!

Thank you MandyK. I'm really hoping that it can be reversed but if I have it for life I know I'll be ok. Like you said Ginny saved my life too and my kids still have their momma. :)
