I mentioned this in my other post but I thought I would make a new one. I am now officially a Crohnie. My GI doc did some kind of scope, less extensive than a sigmoid, but it was enough for him to be sure of what he saw. It's still mild, for which I am thankful. It's both a relief and really awful to finally have a diagnosis. Anyway, thank you all for your support during my freak-out last week. Now that I know what's going on I'm less scared. Mostly now it's just one hell of an inconvenience. :(

Welcome to the group.....I guess LOL

The way I look at it is you FINALLY have an answer & now they can begin to treat you :)

That's great that you have a diagnosis finally. Now you can focus on getting treatment for that and you can know what you are up against.

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. Hopefully this will lead to good treatment options and a return to a fairly normal life.

Thanks for your good wishes everyone. It is nice to know I'm not crazy but it sucks feeling so sick all the time. It's not even like things are that horrible, compared to what most of you go through, but it still feels like it takes a huge toll on my system. I still have 5 weeks left of classes before I graduate but all I want to do is crawl into bed and just sleep for a week.

Well at least you know now. Jeez - if you are feeling so sick all of the time, I wouldn't exactly call it mild though =(
I hope these next 5 weeks goes smoothly for you.

Living in limbo is sheer hell.

Getting the diagnosis at least gives you an identifiable foe and a plan of action.

Good luck, and hang in there Kiddo. I was pretty concerned about you.

i hope this is the turning point for you AgB, now you have the diagnosis you can relax knowing what it is, and hopefully get on a meds & diet regime that will have you feeling a whole lot better very soon.

I remember how that was in college and that is what I did... spend most of my time out of class in bed studying hard or sleeping. I do admit that it did not help having lout frat boys for roomates...

For now, take it easy and get your rest and studying done. Best of luck on your finals.

In terms of meds my GI doc needs to have a pow-wow with my psychiatrist to make sure there are no contraindications between the Crohn's meds and the bipolar meds. One thing I know for certain, steroids are absolutely out of the question. Right now all he's added is a mesalamine enema at night and he changed the Canasa from night til morning. Other than that I'm on Asacol and Aciphex (though the Aciphex is not strictly for the Crohn's but rather the reflux). He called it a "holding pattern" until he can connect with my psychiatrist about more long term treatment.

Also, Dan, thank you for wishing me luck on finals but I am actually in a liberal arts school that doesn't have them! It doesn't mean the material isn't really intense and time-consuming though. I've spoken with my professors and they are understanding about the situation. This is a school that puts a lot of emphasis on attendance and participation, so I've offered to do extra work if I end up missing too much class or if I'm unusually quiet.

AgB sorry you had it confirmed but as some have already said its half the battle knowing what you are fighting!!

You will get there honey. Hope they sort out a more substantial plan soon. Thinking of you ((hugs))
