It's working!!! Update in post 5 :(

I'm so excited. I added Imuran to my Cimzia 2 weeks ago. I was going to the bathroom 10 times a day and had pain all day, taking a pain pill daily. The past 3 days, I've only gone 2-3 times/day and haven't had to take a pain pill at all! I'm not in remission yet, but I feel like I turned a big corner this weekend with my symptoms and I'm so excited. Now if I could just get rid of these daily headaches.

I used to get headaches daily with imuran, the last time I was on it. This time around I am taking 2 ginger capsules, and 1 curcumin capsule daily, and I dont get daily headaches this time around. Both have anti-inflammatory properties and I think its helping prevent headaches. I also drink 2 big glasses of water daily. Thats the only different thing I am doing this time around with the imuran.

I hope the imuran continues to work for you.

Thats uplifting news Stephanie.
Great to hear of the improvement and I hope it continues for you.
Take care..

Sad to report, the improvement lasted about a week. I'm back to being in pain every day and bathroom 4-5 times/day. I'm not sure what to do. It's only been 5 weeks today, so it could still work for me, right?? I've read it can take up to 8 weeks. I was just so excited, thinking it was working, now I'm going downhill again. :(

Hang on in there, it's early days! My GI told me that Azathioprine ( Imuran ) can take up to three months to become therapeutic. What dosage are you on? I started to get bad headaches when I got up to my maximum dosage ( which was 100mg - I've put on weight so I'm on more now. ) Friends here advised me to split the dose, so I started taking half in the morning and half in the evening, with food and that really helped.

I'm on 100mg, taken at night. The headaches are gone, no side effects at all. I just had a prometheus test last week that will determine if I'm on the therapeutic dose or not. I don't have those results yet.

Oh, I sure hope it will work for you, Steph. Give it a few more weeks. Hang in there!

It usually takes 8-12 weeks to work, and it can take up to 6 months to feel the full effect.
