Hi I'm currently on 15mg of pred and tapering down since the 6mp appears to be kicking in, my question is has anyone any tips to lessen the jittery feeling we experience while taking this horrible drug? It's not constant but comes and goes anybody any ideas? Plus I only sleep a couple of hours a night.

I felt jittery on prednisone, and had insomnia as well. My doctor prescribed me amitriptyline which took care of the restlessness and insomnia so well. I also had a tremour - physically shaking - which got worse when I felt nervous. That didn't really go away until I came of prednisone.

The only think i could suggest that worked for me is if you are starting to feel well then make more time to move about and tire yourself out.

Exercise is good for this, plus it can only help in the long run to improve your overall health and it may help you transition a bit better on your taper.

I just started 6mp as well this year and am finally tapering down on pred. I just dropped down to 10mg of pred today and am doing just what I suggested above because I tend to get extra emotional/mood swings during my tapers. I learned during earlier pred courses that exercised helped balance me emotionally.

Good luck!

The doctors want you off prednisione due to all the somewhat nasty side effects. On the flip side a slower tapper tends to help me. It normally drops by 10mg to 5mg to 1/2mg. When I get hospitalized they normally start me off somewhere in the 90mg. The fist part of the taper is done in the hospital. Its nice to have IV pain killers during the tapper. At home tapper I try to keep my hands busy. Anything from rebuilding a carburetor to mowing the lawn. Just try to keep busy and burn it off

Seen gi today I've to reduce from 15 to 10mg of pred every other day for 2 weeks then 10 mg for two weeks then 10 and 5 for 2 weeks great fun! He wants me to remain on 5 mg till I see him again in 5 months.

I had the same problem. My wife thought I had MS, my hands would shake so bad. Dr. wanted me off of it before my colonoscopy and he wants me to stay off of it for my surgery on May 21.

I did notice that just getting and walking around just seemed to help with the jitters. Now that I am completly off, my hands stopped shaking.
