Hi all :)
I have an interview for my dream job tomorrow. The problem is I know sometimes they like to question how your general health is. Should i tell them? I don't want to put them off hiring me just because of my UC.

Legally they should not be able to ask you about your health - at least in the US - not sure how it is handled in the UK....

I would answer questions directly and honestly, don't volunteer information about illnesses and the potential for missing work...at least I wouldn't.

Good luck with the interview!

Thank you :).
I wasn't sure if they would ask but someone said to me today what i would say and its kinda put me off going now. Im pretty good at not taking time off anyway when I'm in a flare.

Congratulations. With treatment today there is no certainty you will miss work. You might be like some here, including myself, who have years of remission. It's impossible to know the future. Don't rule yourself out of your dream job. If it's now a legal question to ask are you required to speculate on what might or might not happen. It's impossible to answer.

All the best.

Never admit to it, people have preconceptions of a chronic illness. It only becomes an issue when you have a medical when you have been offered the job. It is much more difficult for them to justify not employing you when you have been offered the job and illegal, than to make up some excuse not to offer it to you. Good luck!

Even at that, for a long time I missed fewer days of work while in active flare than others missed due to ordinary colds and flus. Unless you are doing something like remote field work or you are going to be routinely exposed to some serious disease causing agents, they don't need to know.
