I have been dealing with joint pain all over for a few years, it comes and goes, but my wrists/hands have been so bad this week. I saw an on call dr. and they said they think it is inflammatory arthritis and to see my regular dr for more testing. Has anyone else had these issues? Going Sunday to see the family dr. I never know when to see my family dr or ask my GI??? I hate being whiny, but I need my hands to work, and not hurt...:sign0085:

I get a lot of joint pain when I'm in a flare.

Hope you get some answers.

Hi i have joint pain all the time in my hips knees shoulders and elbows. Iv not had a flare in 20 mths ish. But i do drop things alot sometimes, things just fall out of my hands n i dont feel them go ?? Dont know what that ones all about 😕. Oh for some relief !! It just laughs at painkillers. They barely touch the surface of the pain.
Best wishes to all ❤

I have mild chronic arthritis in my wrists and hands. The first time it happened I went to a random GP too thinking it was simply temporary tendonitis from overuse, but right away that dr signed me a referral to a rhuematologist because of my crohn's medical history. report this situation to your GI. You might get a appointment faster with a rhuematologist and from the same hospital. It is best when doctors are from the same hospital, know each other and can discuss our case if needed. If you can have access to your GP first, it is true he or she can run the primarily blood tests for inflammatory markers. Take photos if you see swelling. good luck.

I have advanced Atrophic Gastritis along with borderline Crohns. I have had acid reflux for years and found out it is much more complicated then taking PPI's . I need them but lately my hips are painful. I thought it was because of the monoclonal antibody Entyvio to treat my Crohn's thus my Atrophic Gastritis. I could barely talk and have had dental failures . I am 59 and do not want to go through hip surgery along with mouth reconstruction. Entyvio or Nexium…which one is causing my hip pain?

I am wondering if you may or may not have some arthritis which could be another autoimmune disease?

You may be right. I am concerned with the failure of my dental implants. I am left with a cleft palate. I think the atrophic gastritis may have caused it but maybe the entyvio or long term nexium. I am putting off my latest entyvio treatment because I am scheduled for reconstructive surgery and doctor doesn't disagree with my concern.

I have a oral surgeon I am working with but have not had a straight answer from my GE doctor either. They all say this is not what they know about entyvio or nexium. I was misdiagnosed after a 7 day stay there. I have found many people who have ideas but only one who diagnosed me.

Hi Ron n lady organic. I will look into a rheumy. I have thought about it just recently. No inflamatry markers have shown up upto last tests. I will speak to my gp 1st
I have a gi app in jan but its a while away so gp 1st. Thanks all 💕

Spondylarthritis typically doesn't have raised esr /crp or positive RA values
You need a good Rheumo who is familiar with it and the link to crohns

im going to see my gp today, I've talked many times with my gi, he just gave me Celebrex...it doesn't help and I'm trying I scared to take to much with the damage it can cause. This morning my hands were both numb, I woke up to my cell ringing and it was a joke trying to answer it because I couldn't feel either if my hands....I didn't know if I should laugh or cry:/ and I've been able to try and ingore all the other joint pain, while my tummy is burning with yoga breathing techniques, but my arms....I use them...a lot, I have 3 children at home and my step daughter too...dishes is just a joke too lol. Thanks for your advice

I'm 32, have crohns and chronic gastritis, been on nexiumn for around 10 years, but it works....for the gastritis.

Put you hands and wrists in bucket of warm water in the morning. This helps me greatly when i wake up to unlock my hands.

you're right about being careful with celebrex, crohn's and gastritis.
My GI said 15 days max to me. Celebrex didnt help me either.

Paraffin wax
DS uses thermobath it is heated and liquid 24 /7
A little pricey
But the hot wax does wonders for inflammation
His Rheumo wrote a script for it
DS has used it twice a day every day for the past two years do it has more than payed for it self .

Lady Organic- think the paraffin wax gets deep into the tissue. I believe you wrap them in plastic bags.

I have had trouble for a year with my hands. lower back and feet. went to a Rheumo and
he said he didn't see any inflammation in the joints. Although by the time i saw him they were no longer red and as swollen as they had been. He gave me medication and it flared me up.

It was really complicated for me too to get a diagnosis. The rheumy kept saying I had no arthritis because I had no visible signs to ''her'' touch and view. I knew my hands were not looking the same as before. They were little puffy especially in the morning and curved. Some rings were not fitting me anymore, but that dr didnt want to listen. after multiple wrong diagnosis, it is finally a hand surgeon who sent me for a bone scintigraphy (the most sensitive test) that diagnosed my arthritis.

anytime we see something medically unusual, its always good to take photos for our next medical visits.

Everything about this disease is complicated!

I guess a hand surgeon is a good next step. If I knew how to post pictures I would show you one of my
fingers. How he can tell nothing can be done is a little frustrating. Joints are curved some are twisting. My shoulder is horrible.

My issue is I am going back to work next week after a few months on disability. I work retail and its not in me to stand by and watch things not get done or harp on people to get
stuff done. So by the time I drive home its all I can do to walk upstairs in my condo!

I think I will try the surgeon next, thanks for the tip.

Hi iv just made app to see my gp re the joint pain n full blood work. Go on the 19th. So lets see what that tips up!!!. Thanks for the advice ☺
Best wishes to you all n hope things improve for everyone ❤💋

the best dr we should see is truly a rheumy, but I think unfortunately several lack experience with IBD patients. I was sent for hand surgery by the rhuemy with wrong diagnosis!!! But finally a long life experienced surgeon knew what was wrong with me. 2 other young hand surgeons were ready to operate on me. Its a chance I went for a 3rd opinion!!
X-ray, Ultrasound and MRI coulnt catch my inflammation, finally bone scintigraphy proposed by hand surgeon did, so remember this test if needed...
Could twisted fingers be osteoarthritis? If you are 50 or over this condition is pretty common and it is true not much can be done about it besides taking pain meds. I believe its possible help with diet modification though. Usually, IBD arthritis is non-deforming. When I say my fingers are curved, I meant kind of curved (bent) inwards when I wake up. But I dont have any joint deformation. Joint deformation is most typical of osteoarthritis or other inflammatory joint diseases, but not IBD arthritis. however, osteoarthritis should not exclude a combined IBD joint issue.
