Well I just finished injecting myself with my 4 starting doses with the pen. I did all 4 in my stomach. The first three were alittle stingy, nothing bad at all. The final one I think I messed up a tab and stung alittle more. It honestly was easier then I thought it was going to be.

I'm just looking forward to it to start working so I can get healthy again. How long did you guys take humira till you noticed it starting to work?

Awesome dude, so it wasn't too bad huh? Thats good to hear, hope it works out for you asap! Goodluck.

Glad it wasn't too bad for you! Do you like the pens? I preferred the syringes when I was on it.

Honestly, when I started taking Humira, I was so sick. I starting feeling a bit better within a week of my first 4 incjections, and then just kept feeling better little by little.

Yeah, I prefer the pens just shooting in me rather then me having to push a needle into me, I have a thing for needles so don't know if I could do that.

I'm with you on the syringe thing... "shiver". I felt better by my second week, thank god, I'd had enough of the crappy feeling - no pun intended. Keep away from hip bones, they are an 'oh shit that hurt' sting. Hitting a blood vessel is no picnic either. Freaking you out yet ;) Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon.

I use the pen with ice on the spot to numb it, that thing burns like hell.. i will never use humira without ice, i learnt my lesson

Thanks Natalie. And spcwife, I just like the get it over with so I think preping with ice and such would just get my mind racing and such, ha

Hi Ethan, hope Humira is good for you. I have been on Remicade for 4.5 yrs & had a reaction so in 2 weeks my GI is starting me on the injections....thanks for posting as Im a little nervous about self injecting cheers:)

I think we both started around the same time (a few days apart).

I'm feeling great now with symptoms, although I think I'm having some side effects...but GI symptoms are almost totally gone!

Hey! I started the pen in January of this year, and felt better almost immediately! I think it took a few weeks before I felt back to normal. It's been working really well for me so far! (Although I still panic about it right before I use it, even though i've been doing it for a few months haha)

Hope it works out for you! :)

Thanks, still going well. Have the second maintenance dose next Monday. I'm a man so I can take the pain (ha jokin) it still make me nervous too

The best advice I can give is to ice the spot you are going to inject the pen into for about 10 minutes before you do it. I forgot to last time and I paid for it BIG TIME!

My last one were wierd lately also, the area has been bruiseing alot. Stays for like a week brused. Don't know why, still going well tho so it's not a big problem. I just tell people I got shot with a BB gun or something ha. Anyways, glad to see its still working well for you also!

Injecting is no big deal after you get used to doing it for a while. I let the pen sit for 30 min at room temp, prep the site ( shave) clean with wipe, shoot and go on with my day.

It's more mental than anything.

My injection site always bruises, and I think this is quite common. The Humira itself can cause you to bruise easier. I find that if I find the fattiest part of my leg, the bruising is much less than when I mess up and inject it more into muscle.
